Highlights from Hampton Court

As the first RHS Flower Show that I ever visited, RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival will always have a special place in my heart. The recent addition of an area dedicated to showcasing allotments has made me love it even more, but I must admit it’s the show gardens that still take up the majority of my camera roll once I’ve returned home.

The gallery below gives a taste of what some of my favourite gardens had to offer.

Image one: The Lion King Anniversary Garden by Juliet Sargeant
This garden celebrates 25 years of The Lion King musical in London. Drawing on structures and colour from the stage production, this garden combined the dusty red soil with bright greens, yellows and oranges to bring the African sunset to Surrey. We were also treated to a performance from the show cast - breathtaking!

Image two: Oregon Garden by Sadie May Stowell
Over the past couple of years I have noticed some of the American tourist boards sponsoring gardens at this show. This year’s Oregon Garden, a selection of familiar plants such as Ammi majus, meadow cranesbill, and Scots pine, combined with the icy blue water made this a hit for me. And I have a soft spot for an old-style VW campervan!

Image three: RHS The Money-Saving Garden by Anya Lautenbach & Jamie Butterworth
Anyone who follows Anya on instagram will in no doubt have watched her videos in awe wondering at how she has managed to create such a beautiful garden on a budget. Through seed collecting and propagation she has created a haven, and her garden at this show is no different, showcasing how to grow plants for free, save money gardening, and create a beautiful space on a limited budget.

Image four: RHS Peat-Free Garden by Arit Anderson
A beautiful garden that is informative too. A collection of signs guides you around the garden taking you on a peat-free journey, providing top tips for the amateur gardener to transition to peat-free at home. The colour schemes in the garden were really to my taste too with pastels and jewel tones living in perfect harmony.

And finally, not technically a garden but you can’t keep me away from David Austin Roses!
